Role 5: Media

In my opinion, mass media can make an active impact on the commercialisation of festivals and the conservation of traditional festivals.
Firstly, mass media is very influential to us as we always come across with the information spread by the media. We may not accept that information at first, but it can influence us unobtrusively and gradually change our mind, e.g. TV dramas can be so influential that people will follow the behaviour of some of the roles.
Secondly, mass media is a cause of the commercialisation of festivals. Businessman want people to buy their products, so they promote their products through mass media as it can spread information to the public. People will thus be attracted by the products. The commercialisation will not occur if there is no consumers and products.
Thirdly, I think, people nowadays are indifferent to the traditional festivals. It is mainly because they don't know much about the festivals. A person without knowing anything about a thing will never be enthusiastic about that thing. Now mass media can be a key to solve the problem. If the mass media widely promotes the traditional festivals, people will know more about the festivals and thus will become concerned about them.
In conclusion, mass media is so influential that it can cause the commercialisation and conserve the tradtional festivals.

Government 'The commercialization of different festival has create lots of business for Hong Kong, for example, the tourist industry, the retail business and the catering trade of Hong Kong, which produce lots of capital for Hong Kong. As a result, i think that the commercialization of different festival was so important to Hong Kong, however, it will we must protect the festival. For the protection, we would propose help for citizen to celebrate the festival like the villagers in Chang Jou, we would gave grain for them to plan their celebrities. Also, we would promote our traditional festival to foreign country as to attack people to visit, which could produce income for the celebrates.'
